Who learns in organisations?

November 25, 2008 Leave a comment

The subject of who learns in organisations and indeed whether organisations are able to learn are issues that continue to be hotly debated in the organisational learning literature. I recently re-submitted a journal paper on this subject area and found it a very taxing theme to write about. I primarily argued from a subjective/interpretive approach as I feel that this correlates towards my company research with blogs. However, I do feel that the functionalistic perspective of organisational learning cannot be ignored and that it complements the interpretivist approach. I hope to explore these themes in much more detail during my empirical research. I feel that the writing of the journal paper, whether it be accepted or not, has helped me immensely in reflecting about some of the core areas of organisational learning that you do not always come across in the academic literature.
